Over a century old, the Alexander Technique is a proven mind-body method that offers a clear, systematic look into the underlying principles that govern human movement. As we move from childhood to adulthood, we develop habits combined with the stresses and strains of modern living, which create ways of moving that cause excess tension, misalignment, and sometimes chronic pain or discomfort.

An educational method with therapeutic benefits, AT helps one unlearn unhelpful habits and regain supple poise and grace. Teachers are extensively trained for 3 years, and use demonstration, explanation, and repeated examination of what spontaneously occurs in the student. Light hand contact is also used to detect the student’s unnecessary physical and mental stresses. Students leave an Alexander lesson feeling lighter and freer while also taking away practical skills and conscious awareness of how they might carry the newfound freedom into daily life.
